How it works

How to use this auto loan calculator

Enter your vehicle price, down payment, trade-in value, interest rate, loan term, and state. The calculator computes your monthly payment using the standard amortization formula, then adds estimated sales tax if enabled. The result is your exact monthly payment — what you'll pay from month one through payoff.

Use the term comparison table to see how changing from 60 to 48 months reduces total interest, or how a 72-month loan lowers your payment at the cost of more interest. Click any row to update the calculator.

APR

Annual Percentage Rate — the interest rate plus any lender fees, expressed as a yearly rate. Always compare APR across lenders.

Net trade-in

Your trade-in value minus what you still owe on it. If negative (upside-down), it adds to your new loan balance.

GAP insurance

Covers the difference between what you owe and what your car is worth if it's totaled. Most relevant for loans over 60 months or low down payments.

Money factor

The lease equivalent of an interest rate. Multiply by 2,400 to convert to approximate APR.
